40. Twenty-seven

Friday 16th August – It’s my birthday!

We met some friends in the lobby of the Grand Floridian so I could open my cards and presents from them before going into Magic Kingdom for breakfast. There’s nothing like a birthday to show you how well your friends know you! Here is my reaction to one of Chloe’s gifts; she did a Fantasmic-themed drawing of Sorcerer Mickey which was so thoughtful!

We got the monorail to the Magic Kingdom and met some more friends at the castle. I’d managed to get a reservation for ten of us for Cinderella’s Royal Table, which is the restaurant upstairs inside the castle! Again, this always gets booked up months in advance; I think this was on everyone’s bucket list so we were all very excited for breakfast with the princesses.

We checked in and met Cinderella before going upstairs then we were shown to our table. Most of us ordered mimosas and we ate breakfast while Aurora, Jasmine, Ariel and Snow White came round to see us. Our server brought me a cupcake and everyone sang happy birthday. The whole experience was magical and the food was delicious!

After breakfast, we met some more characters then some of us wanted to hire a boat. It started to rain so we went to the Contemporary to play in the arcade while we waited it out. Fortunately, it stopped raining so off we went and had lots of fun sailing around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Chloe, Elin, Matt and I then went to Hollywood Studios for the evening as we had booked the Fantasmic! Dessert Party. I was living my best life, of course; we got a light-up Fantasmic! cup and lanyard, unlimited margaritas and a platter of Fantasmic! themed food to eat while we watched the show… and we got front-row seats! I even met the Twitter-famous Cast Member Shelby who always makes the pre-show a fun time.

After laughing at Chloe on the way out because she was a bit lit on numerous margeritas, Matt and I got the bus to check in at All Star Movies, our final hotel of his stay. I remember staying here as a child so I was looking forward to feeling extremely nostalgic! The rooms have been refurbished though and are so nice, especially for a value resort. The pool is Fantasia themed with a Sorcerer Mickey fountain, so it’s a yes from me.

I honestly had the best, most magical birthday. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to celebrate with me, send me cards and presents across the ocean and for all the lovely messages.
