4. Chef Mickey’s

Monday 19th November

I started the week in the best way possible… Santa Mickey was there to surprise us as we made our way into work!

Tuesday 20th November – Disney Springs

I finished work at 5.45pm today so Chloe and I decided to go to Disney Springs to watch the new Fantastic Beasts film. As a massive Harry Potter fan I was really looking forward to it. We were going to go to the dine-in screening where you can order food and have it brought to you as you watch the film which sounded amazing. We had a bit of time to kill so we looked round a couple of shops in Springs, did the Christmas Tree Trail (lots of trees decorated in the style of different Disney films) then made our way to the cinema. THE FILM WAS SOLD OUT.

We were so disappointed and weren’t sure what to do… I’d come all the way here and wasn’t going to leave without seeing a film! We met up with Emma who had just come out of seeing ‘Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet’ which I also wanted to watch… so we decided to watch that in 3D. Yes, Emma watched it twice in a row, she is obsessed with Wreck-It Ralph! It is a very good film and so cleverly done; I would definitely recommend seeing it when it comes out in the UK!

Thursday 22nd November – Happy Thanksgiving!

Elin and I had a much-needed, very relaxed day. We didn’t want to go to Disney as everywhere would be busy. We needed to collect new keys from the Housing Service Center and contributed to their Thanksgiving display while we waited… such a cute idea!

We then chatted to our families and went to Walmart, which was crazy… they already had Black Friday deals on and it was like a zoo! Good news though, we got a Christmas tree!!! I put the tree up when we got back and Roma came round. The evening was a bit disappointing in the end; we wanted to get dinner delivered but as it was Thanksgiving everything was closed!

Friday 23rd November – Chef Mickey’s

Going to bed hungry the night before meant that I was so ready for breakfast at Chef Mickey’s this morning! It’s an all-you-can-eat character dining buffet in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Elin made the reservation a couple of weeks ago and it was so lovely to spend time together as roommates, as usually it’s a bigger group of us doing things.

While we ate our way through the massive range of dishes available, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto came round in their chef outfits. It was so fun watching them interact with everyone around the restaurant, especially the children! Those are my favourite moments to see in Disney, it’s magical. Another magical moment: the Mickey waffles! It was worth the seven year wait…

After breakfast we took the monorail to the Grand Floridian Resort to see their life-size gingerbread house. The Grand Flo is beautiful, especially with all the Christmas decorations.

We finished off a lovely day by getting home and watching our first Christmas film of the season, Love Actually. What a film!
